Although prejudice is something that takes time where since childhood one’s culture teaches him to stereotype the other and those beliefs grow stronger and stronger over time until he/she reaches a point where they starts making prejudicial decisions, the good news is that it can be tamed and kicked out of our brains.

Here are a few strategies that can help reduce and eliminate prejudice.

Practice Contact Hypothesis

According to the contact hypothesis, the more the contact between the hostile groups, the more the chance of harmony. In other words, the contact hypothesis suggests making more contact with whomever they are prejudiced with. The researchers have found that knowing one’s perspectives on a personal level can help resolve conflicts and communication can help with developing empathy and respect towards the other race or group.

So instead of alienating and showing prejudice towards any group try understanding their perspective, initiate a talk, and befriend them.
